ALDI to reopen its newly remodeled Greece store in November

ALDI will be reopening its newly remodeled Greece store on Mt. Read Blvd on November 1. The store has been closed since Monday October 22.

The remodeled store will feature higher ceilings, improved natural lighting and environmentally friendly building materials such as recycled materials and energy-saving refrigeration and light bulbs. The store will also offer customers a simple and easy-to-navigate shopping experience.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 8:45am, with an official public opening at 9:00am. There will also be product sampling and on-site sweepstakes.

The Mall at Greece Ridge to celebrate grand opening of children's play area

The Mall at Greece Ridge will be hosting a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, September 29th from 12-2pm for the new Children’s Play Area.  Children will receive a special goodie bag (while supplies last; one bag per child) between 12-2pm.  The ribbon cutting will take place at noon when the play area opens that day.

The Mall’s play area pieces were inspired by the history and community of the Greece area.  Pieces include an owl which represents Braddock’s Bay, the Manitou Trolley, an 11 foot lighthouse and a carpet that travels Route 104.  The soft play area includes climbers, slides and tunnels.  There are also puzzles, mirrors and other educational pieces adhered to the walls.

Big Lots is holdding a grand opening for its new store in Greece on Friday at 9 a.m.

There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Big Lots executives and local city officials.

Wegmans recalls some soups

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A soup manufacturer for Wegmans is recalling about 4,000 pounds of products after consumers found bits of plastic in the soups.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the products made by Massachusetts-based Blount Fine Foods were sold at Wegmans supermarkets in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
 
The following products, all under the Wegmans Food Markets label, are being recalled:
 
- 16 oz. cups of Chicken and Dumpling Soup with a "use by" date of August 24.
 
- 16 oz. cups of Gazpacho Soup with a "use by" date of September 2.
 
- 16 oz. cups of Italian Wedding Style Soup with Meatballs, Tomato Basil with Orzo, Caribbean Black Bean and Lobster Bisque, all with a "use by" date of September 3.
 
No injuries were reported. Wegmans says all products may be returned for a full refund.

Scouts to present flag at new Walmart opening

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will be raising and lowering the flag at the opening of Greece Walmart in Northgate Plaza on Dewey Avenue.

Cub Scout Packs 13 and 130 and Boy Scout Troops 130, 139 and 240 will assist in the lowering of the flag on Tuesday at 6:00pm and the raising of the flag on Wednesday at 7:15am. 

The new Walmart store will open to customers on Wednesday August 15 at 8:00 a.m.

Five Below opens new store in Greece

Five Below will celebrate the grand opening of its new store in Greece this weekend. The new store opens Friday in Ridgemont Plaza on West Ridge Road in Greece.

Five Below is the leading retailer of extreme-value merchandise for teens and pre-teens. Five Below offers afforable, brand-new merchandise, including DVDs, games, cell phone and iPod accessories and room decor, all priced from $5 and under.

To celebrate the grand opening, this weekend, the store will be giving away Five Below t-shirts, and other prizes, including one $100 Five Below shopping spree.

The store is open Friday and Saturday from 9:30am to 9:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Five Below debuted in the Rochester area in June 2011, when it opened a location in Henrietta.
