News

The Ridge Road Fire District is looking for volunteers to participate in a Community Emergency Response Team “CERT” course this fall. This 21 hour course will be held over 7 nights starting in October, 2012. All residents of the Town of Greece are welcomed to attend. The course will be held at the Ridge Road Fire District Headquarters Fire Station located on Long Pond Rd.  The class will be the 8th class held by the Ridge Road Fire District which has trained over 200 Town of Greece residents in “CERT”.

“CERT” educates and prepares citizens to help themselves, their co-workers and their neighbors during times of emergency. Residents will learn how to: turn on/off utilities, extinguish small fire , perform light search and rescue, organize to respond, utilize neighborhood volunteers effectively, collect disaster intelligence to support first responders efforts, basic emergency medical service including opening airways, control bleeding and treating for shock. The training will also teach residents how to prepare for and deal with all types of natural and manmade disasters.
