Greece Relay for Life raises $55,000 at this year's event

Relay for Life of Greece raised more than $55,000 at this year's event!

This year's Disney themed event brought more than 450 community members together on Saturday, June 8 to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

The 12-hour run/walk began with an opening speech from this year's Relay chair, Gary Wolyn, and a member from the American Cancer Society, Anne Tatarsky.

The Relay began with a lap led by cancer survivors and their caregivers.

Teams participating in the event set up camp and continued their money-raising efforts by selling homemade items, baked goods and games.

Participants enjoyed live music, karaoke, zumba and more during the event.

Later in the night, the Luminaria Ceremony provided a moment of emotional reflection as loved ones were honored.

As paper lanterns lit up the track, participants walked in silence remembering why they were there.
