Police: Gates man punched, stabbed Greece customer in face | News

A Gates man has been charged with assault after allegedly punching and stabbing a Greece customer in a city restaurant.
Ali Al-Saidi, 35 of Gates, has been charged with second-degree assault, a felony. He pleaded not guilty to the charge Thursday in City Court.
According to Rochester Police Department public information officer Stephen Scott, Al-Saidi was an employee at Wings & Rings on Dewey Avenue in the city. Al-Saidi punched and stabbed the 48-year-old Greece man in the face, Scott said. The Greece man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with and has since been released.
Al-Saidi is being held in Monroe County Jail in lieu of $4,000 bail, $12,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18.
